Assalamualaikum, how’s life? Hopefully all of my good readers are in a good condition as well as me. At this occasion, I’d like to show you about leadership in Islam, mostly about the surah in Holy Qur’an that assist human in understanding leader and leadership. Here we go….

In our daily life, society, organization, nation as well states both leader and leadership are inseparable problems. Leader and leadership have a significant role in developing the level of society, organizations, nation and states. Islam put the subject of leader and leadership as one of primary issue in guiding human. In Al-Qur’an many verses reveal the knowledge about leadership. Paramitha (2016) pointed out leadership as a concept of interaction, relationships, processes of authority, influence activities, directs and coordinates both horizontally and vertically. Human is Allah’s creature who has a considerable potential that can be the leader. Thus, can be seen through a verse in Al Qur’an on Surah At-Tin [95]: 4 below:
We have certainly created man in the best of stature;

Below are some verses that reveal and discuss leadership:

Surah Al-Baqarah [2]: 30

And [mention, O Muhammad], when your Lord said to the angels, "Indeed, I will make upon the earth a successive authority." They said, "Will You place upon it one who causes corruption therein and sheds blood, while we declare Your praise and sanctify You?" Allah said, "Indeed, I know that which you do not know."

Surah Al-Shad [38]: 26
[We said], "O David, indeed We have made you a successor upon the earth, so judge between the people in truth and do not follow [your own] desire, as it will lead you astray from the way of Allah ." Indeed, those who go astray from the way of Allah will have a severe punishment for having forgotten the Day of Account.
